Z-Ro Drops Visual For Shaquille O'neal-Inspired Single 'Stop The Reign'

The much-anticipated music video for Z-Ro’s 2020 song, “Stop the Reign,” which is a remake of Shaquille O’Neal’s 1996 single “You Can’t Stop the Reign,” has been released.

The Houston rapper shared the video on Sunday, July 9, in which he is seen standing in front of the NBA Hall of Fame.

Both males can be seen exchanging substantial bars back and forth throughout the video as they cruise around Houston in an all-white drop-top Rolls-Royce. They also make sure to wear a variety of diamond chains with substantial pendents.

The H-Town spitter keeps his verse saturated in Southern flair and reminds listeners why he’s been one of the most reliable musicians over the last 20 years in this song from Z-Ro’s 2020 album Rohammad Ali.

There is enough food for each person to chew. Stop acting as though the game has fed everyone except for you. He raps over the Shaq-sampled music, “You can go all the way to 10, stop stopping at 2/ My bad bitches ain’t stayin’, they just droppin’ it through.

Alongside the former Rap-A-Lot Records rapper, Shaq delivers his bars in an old-school, laid-back manner but yet making sure to keep it trill.

I’m just like my friend Killa Kyleon. When I enter the booth, I’m like Big, ABN like Trae, and I’ll be telling it like it is. Diesel dog from H-Town. You think I’m talking about my beans and cornbread, they’re lovin’ the south, right? You can’t stop the rain, so get the taste out of your mouth before part 2 of my killing spree starts. How many times do I have to say this to you?” he raps.

Shaq was a platinum-selling rapper in the 1990s who put out four studio albums, despite the fact that it’s sometimes glossed over. The title single from his 1996 album You Can’t Stop the Reign features The Notorious B.I.G.

“You Can’t Stop the Rain,” a 1985 soul song by the British band Loose Ends, served as the basis for Shaq’s iconic song.

The four-time NBA champion mentioned that Biggie had a verse for the song that had not yet been released during an interview on Drink Champs that aired last October.

Shaq says, “So when I eventually heard Big was going to do it, I wrote a verse, but I didn’t like it. “My concern is that Big is entering. One, I have to win over Big because I’m out if Big says, “No, this is terrible.” I won’t be given another chance.

So I did it, I let my guys hear it, and I didn’t give a damn if he didn’t bob his head. I played it for my other boy, who didn’t enjoy it and said that it was a tight one. I’m anxious because So Big flew down him and Lil Cease.

‘Ok big dog, that’s tight, that’s tight,’ he says. I continued by saying, “Ok, he likes it.” I’ll let him and Lil Cease handle their own business. ‘Here you go, Big, here’s the pad and pen,’ I said. When I answered, “What you mean ready right now,” he started grinning, and he went in there and killed it. He was told, “Hit this button right here, I’m going to be in the house,” but he responded, “No, I’m ready now.”

And the first stanza, which I’m the only one who knows and will never play, was when he went off. I nearly cried when I had to hit the button and said, “Umm Big,” to which he replied, “Yeah, yeah, for the kids, for the kids. Diesel apologized before performing the song’s stanza. I have it, but I won’t be using it.

The peak position of “You Can’t Stop the Reign” on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Single & Tracks chart was No. 54. Three alternative versions of the song were made available: a single with three verses from Shaq, an album with two verses by Biggie, and a remix by DJ Quik.
