Young Production Talent Surprises Questlove In Adorable Soundcheck Video

Questlove encountered a young prodigy who had previously stunned The Roots drummer when he arrived for a soundcheck, which gave him quite the nice surprise.

On May 17, Questo posted a sweet video to Instagram of a young child named Miles getting ready to sneak up on his idol at a recent performance and hide in a drum kit as he entered.

When Questlove arrived for a soundcheck, he was rather pleasantly surprised to run across a young prodigy who had previously amazed The Roots drummer.

On May 17, Questo shared a cute video of a young boy named Miles preparing to approach his idol at a recent performance and hide in a drum kit as he entered.

Being the only person present for soundcheck, Miles essentially received a private @TheRoots performance, he continued. then the actual concert will start backstage! What a lucky kid!!”

Full disclosure / backstory: Miles had this incredibly complex plan to surprise Questlove, but Questlove (being his genuinely unpredictable nature) stepped up out of the blue and shocked us all! After that, though, we all went through the play-by-play because, well, why not? Everyone laughed a lot. I want to express my gratitude to @LudwigDrumsHQ for organizing everything and making it happen.

The multi-hyphenate Questlove recently published a young adult book called The Rhythm of Time. The book debuted in the Top 5 on Amazon’s bestseller list for “Children’s Action and Adventure Books” after just two days.

When Quest was on The View recently, he revealed to the presenters that he wrote the book as a tribute to his 9-year-old self, who loved to read but never felt like he was represented in the books that were accessible to him.

Although the novel isn’t autobiographical, the musician found inspiration in his background in Philadelphia. He stated, “I want Black nerds to see themselves as well.”

Rahim Reynolds, a seventh-grader, and his buddy Kasia Collins are featured in The Rhythm of Time as they create and test many seemingly absurd devices. But when Rahim gets his hands on one of Kasia’s unique cell phones, he abruptly finds himself in 1997. He has to figure out how to return to the present while avoiding some evil hindrances.

The book was co-written by Questlove and New York Times bestselling novelist S. A. Cosby; it was the producer and drummer’s sixth book. Ages 10 and up are suggested for the book. The hardcover edition of the 260-page book is currently on sale on Amazon for $16.
