Ye, formerly Kanye West, cautions rappers against battling Kendrick Lamar, saying most would lose against him.
In a new interview on The Download (Feb. 4), Ye praised Lamar’s skill, comparing him to an unbeatable Street Fighter move. “If you rap against Kendrick, you will lose,” he said. “This man does this.” However, he suggested that he himself might stand a chance, calling himself a “psycho genius.”
Ye also discussed Drake’s recent loss to Lamar but said he doesn’t believe it’s permanent. Comparing Drake to Steph Curry, he explained, “You can’t ever count out Steph Curry. That man might get 200 points in one song.” He acknowledged Drake’s past influence, saying, “He added something to the algorithm, to our frequency. He advanced us.”
Ye briefly joined the Drake and Kendrick feud last year when he dissed Drake on a remix of “Like That.” He and Lamar previously collaborated on The Life of Pablo track “No More Parties in L.A.”
