Wu-Tang Clan is returning to gaming with Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, a cooperative action RPG and the group’s first video game since 1999’s cult classic Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style. The new game allows up to four players to protect Shaolin and search for missing members of the Wu-Tang Clan.
The game blends Afro-surrealism and anime influences and features a soundtrack of Wu-Tang classics and original music produced by Just Blaze. It’s also a companion piece to RZA’s long-anticipated horror film Angel of Dust, which has been in development since 2019.
Ghostface Killah called the game “a deeper immersion” into the story world of Angel of Dust, highlighting the fusion of music, narrative, and interactivity. It has not yet been confirmed if any Wu-Tang members will be playable characters.
Rise of the Deceiver will debut on PC, followed by a console release. A specific launch date has not been announced.
The game announcement arrives during Wu-Tang Clan’s farewell run, The Final Chamber Tour, a 27-date North American trek. RZA emphasized the uniqueness of the show and the emotional value of touring with the entire group once more. “We’re playing songs we’ve never performed and giving fans a Wu show like never before,” he said. Run the Jewels is also on the lineup.
