Will Smith Declares Sag-Aftra And Wga Strikes ‘A Pivotal Moment For Our Profession’

Will Smith has expressed his support for the SAG-AFTRA actors and WGA writers who are now on strike and believes that what they are doing is a flashpoint for the industry.

The Oscar-winning actor and rapper stated on his Instagram page on Friday (July 28) that it is critical that both guilds receive the compensation they are due in order to live fulfilling lives.

He captioned the photo, “I wanna chat about acting for a second. “As some of you may have heard, my guild, @SAGAFTRA, and our writer colleagues in the WGA are on strike. It’s a crucial time for our industry.

“Despite the fact that I know I have been really fortunate and fortunate to have worked as an actor for all these years, there are still some days when I feel like that boy from Philadelphia who is on borrowed time. Those days when I feel like I don’t belong are becoming fewer and farther between owing to my friend, teacher, and mentor @aaronspeiser, whom I affectionately refer to as “coach.”

The SAG-AFTRA Guild itself also left a comment on the article, saying, “Thank you for your support, Will!”

There are other rappers who support the strikers in addition to Will Smith. Snoop Dogg revealed on Tuesday (June 25) that he has postponed two Hollywood Bowl performances that were scheduled for October in order to show his support for people who are participating in the writer and actor strikes.
