Westside Gunn has officially announced the release date for his upcoming album Still Praying. The Buffalo, New York rapper took to Instagram on Tuesday (October 1) to reveal that the album will drop on November 1. He also shared the project’s cover art, which features the recently deceased professional wrestler Sid Eudy.
In his post, Gunn expressed how important this album is to him personally and to Griselda Records as a whole, calling it the beginning of a new era for the label.
“THIS IS FOR BIG DUMP, MICHELLE, GDAD, VIRGIL, CHINEGUN, SLY GREEN, KUTTER, SHOTS, BACON, BEHIND THE WALL and BUFFALO!!!!!!” Gunn wrote, referencing family members, friends, and collaborators who have passed away. “I promise y’all about to witness a new chapter in this shit starting NOW!!!!”
He continued, “STILL PRAYING is the beginning of a new era of @griseldarecords I promise y’all I’m a make sure y’all never forget this shit, just support the ART and watch how life change for the better.”
The Griselda co-founder added that Still Praying will mark the start of something transformative for his music, blending his love for wrestling, fashion, and music in a way that will set him apart. “I’m a show y’all why it’ll never be another WESTSIDE GUNN,” he declared.
Alongside Still Praying, Westside Gunn has a number of other projects in the works. He previously teased an album called Michelle Records and announced in August that Flygod Is An Awesome God III (Trilogy) is also on the way.
This period of creative output comes after Gunn hinted last year that And Then You Pray For Me would be his final studio album. While he remains open to shorter projects like EPs, he indicated that his time making full studio albums is coming to an end.
