Dancehall legend Vybz Kartel revealed plans for a collaboration with Cardi B in a recent Billboard interview. “I love Cardi! We got a song coming out next year,” he said, adding that he plans to perform it in New York.
Kartel, who was released from prison last summer after 13 years, has faced public scrutiny over his health conditions, including Graves’ disease. Cardi defended him on social media, calling him her “favorite artist” and expressing excitement about working together.
Cardi, known for her past ventures into dancehall, praised Kartel’s influence, and the two are reportedly working on creating a standout track. Both artists are also Grammy nominees this year, with Kartel up for Best Reggae Album (Party With Me) and Cardi competing in Best Rap Performance (“Enough [Miami]”).
The Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 2 in Los Angeles.
