Tyler, The Creator Teases New Album With Single "St. Chroma".

Tyler, The Creator has seemingly kickstarted the rollout for his next album with the release of a new single called “St. Chroma.” The Odd Future founder shared the single and its accompanying music video by surprise on Wednesday, October 16.

On Instagram, he captioned the clip: “1. st chroma,” suggesting this is the first track from a forthcoming project. The military-themed video offers more clues, showing a masked Tyler and a group of soldiers marching towards a shipping container that has the word “CHROMAKOPIA” written on the side.

The possible album title also appears at the end of the clip and is repeated throughout the song.

The track features the Grammy-winning rapper adopting a whispered flow over stomps and handclaps, delivering braggadocious bars like: “Really ballin’ in this bitch, I’m the hottest in this bitch / Give a fuck about no bark, I’m chasing dogs up out of this bitch.” The one-minute and 24-second song builds toward a soulful climax with guest vocals from Daniel Caesar before crashing into a frantic, hard-hitting beat.

“St. Chroma” comes as somewhat of a surprise, as earlier this month, Tyler suggested he wouldn’t be releasing new music anytime soon. The multi-hyphenate hinted at pursuing an acting career while commenting on an Instagram post from friend and collaborator Steve Lacy.

In response to Lacy venting about fans asking him for an update on his album before even saying “hello,” Tyler wrote: “[I] feel you shit is annoying especially when I never said out my mouth an album was coming.” He humorously added: “[I] wanna be an actress lmfao.”

The 33-year-old’s last album, Call Me If You Get Lost, arrived in June 2021, becoming his second number one on the Billboard 200 and winning Best Rap Album at the Grammys. A deluxe edition titled The Estate Sale followed less than two years later, featuring collaborations with A$AP Rocky, YG, Vince Staples, and more.
