A24 has released the full trailer for Marty Supreme, the new film from Josh Safdie starring Timothée Chalamet, arriving in theaters on December 25. The film, which had a surprise screening at the 63rd New York Film Festival, continues to build excitement through a visually striking and unconventional rollout, including a Vogue short film and performance-based teasers led by Chalamet.
During the festival screening, Tyler, The Creator—who appears in the film and is a 2026 Grammy nominee—spoke emotionally about his experience working with Safdie. “I’m so grateful, beyond grateful,” he said, addressing the audience. “I play piano and put on cool clothes. I do not act at all. This man is so good that I trusted him and said, ‘Anything you need.’ Because I trust this man and the way he curated and handled every detail.”
The trailer, soundtracked by Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” offers a first real look at Chalamet’s portrayal of Marty Mauser, a ping-pong prodigy consumed by ambition and chaos. It also highlights Tyler’s vibrant character, seen celebrating wins and shouting, “The mouse is back, baby!” as the two dance next to a moving car.
The cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, Luke Manley, and Koto Kawaguchi. Safdie’s film blends retro aesthetics and offbeat humor with the director’s signature tension-driven storytelling.
Chalamet’s preparation for the role extended into a conceptual performance campaign, including a self-directed short with Aidan Zamiri where he repeatedly declares, “Best in the world!”—a reflection of Marty’s relentless drive for greatness.
For Tyler, the film marks another high point in a year of achievements. Alongside his work in Marty Supreme, he’s earned multiple Grammy nominations for his albums CHROMAKOPIA and DON’T TAP THE GLASS, with the former competing for Album of the Year against projects from Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, and others.
Marty Supreme arrives Christmas Day, promising a mix of comedy, chaos, and ambition from one of A24’s boldest releases yet.
