Tyler, The Creator released his new album Don’t Tap the Glass on Monday morning, July 21, while continuing to tour in support of CHROMAKOPIA. He performed songs from the album a night earlier at a $5 show in Los Angeles before releasing the project on a weekday once again, a pattern he’s embraced in recent years.
He first announced the album at a Brooklyn show on Friday night and also launched a themed exhibit in New York City, which included displays at the Barclays Center and the Oculus at the World Trade Center. The album artwork features Tyler shirtless in red pants and a matching cap, an image that recalls past visuals from LL COOL J, 50 Cent, and Ludacris.
Tyler urged fans to manage their expectations ahead of the release, clarifying on X that Don’t Tap the Glass isn’t built around a specific concept. This marks his ninth solo album and second release in less than a year, following CHROMAKOPIA, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October with 299,000 album-equivalent units. That album also ranked seventh on Billboard’s year-end best albums list for 2024.
