Tyler, the Creator Named Apple Music’s 2025 Artist of the Year

Tyler, the Creator has officially been named Apple Music’s 2025 Artist of the Year. The announcement arrived on Thursday (November 20), with the platform recognizing his impact across music, film, and culture. Apple Music’s global creative director Zane Lowe praised Tyler’s creativity and influence, noting his continued artistic risk-taking and dedication to presentation.

The recognition follows a standout year for Tyler. Just eight months after releasing his eighth studio album, Chromakopia, he delivered its follow-up, Don’t Tap the Glass, which debuted at No. 1. The project included Hot 100 singles such as “Big Poe” featuring Pharrell Williams, “Ring, Ring, Ring,” and “Sugar on My Tongue.” Tyler wrote and recorded the album while touring globally in support of Chromakopia.

Both albums earned Tyler five Grammy nominations for 2026. Chromakopia is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album, while Don’t Tap the Glass is up for Best Alternative Music Album. Apple Music reported that Tyler reached his highest streaming numbers to date, with over 4.5 billion minutes of listening logged between November 2024 and October 2025.

Tyler also headlined major festivals including Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and Osheaga, and will return to host his Camp Flog Gnaw festival on November 22–23. His schedule continues next month with his feature film debut in Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, starring Timothée Chalamet.

Despite the busy year, Tyler expressed appreciation for his supporters, thanking listeners and acknowledging the importance of recognition for artists who take creative risks. He encouraged continued support for musicians who approach their work differently.
