Tyler, the Creator has achieved the title of the best-selling rapper on vinyl in 2023, according to reports. The artist managed to sell a remarkable total of 552,000 records in the United States, not only securing his position as the leading rapper of the year but also earning him the distinction of being 2023’s best-selling male artist and the third best-selling artist overall. Expressing his gratitude, he tweeted, “thanks to you all who helps in keeping physical media alive!”
In the realm of hip-hop, other notable artists in the top 10 for the previous year include Travis Scott at No. 4 with 474,000 albums, Kendrick Lamar at No. 6 with 382,000 albums, and the late Mac Miller at No. 10 with 354,000 albums.
Dominating the overall vinyl sales for the year, Taylor Swift maintains her No. 1 position for the third consecutive year with a staggering 3.484 million albums sold. Lana Del Rey follows at No. 2 with 646,000 copies. The rest of the top 10 includes Olivia Rodrigo at No. 5 with 408,000, Metallica at No. 7 with 378,000, The Beatles at No. 8 with 373,000, and Fleetwood Mac at No. 9 with 357,000.
The vinyl market experienced significant growth in 2023, with a total of 49.61 million records sold in the US, marking a 14.2% increase from the 43.46 million copies sold in 2022. Notably, one out of every 25 vinyl albums sold belonged to Taylor Swift.
