Tyla Teases Upcoming Rap Song And Talks Musical Versatility In Recent Interview.

Tyla recently shared in a Nylon cover story that she has made “full-on rap songs” and plans to share one with fans in the future. The South African singer, known for her hit “Water,” expressed her excitement about showcasing her versatility, revealing that she has tracks across multiple genres, including rap, R&B, and amapiano. “I’m excited to show people that I’m more diverse than they think,” she said, adding that her rap songs are “hot.”

When asked about her early influences, Tyla explained that she didn’t idolize one specific artist but instead drew inspiration from a variety of music. She didn’t study individual artists but instead focused on songs, performances, and music videos that resonated with her. “It was very broad. Pop stars, rappers, R&B singers,” she noted, emphasizing that her goal was to create something unique, different from what she had heard before.

Tyla also mentioned that she has a collection of unreleased songs from different genres that reflect her diverse musical journey. “I was making anything and everything,” she said, explaining how she found a mixture of sounds that felt true to herself.

Last month, Tyla performed her hit “Push 2 Start” at the Billboard Women in Music event, where she also accepted the Impact Award for her breakout success. Reflecting on her career, she told the crowd, “I just feel very lucky for my fans who have given me such an exciting life, allowing me to grow in front of the world into all the different versions of myself as an artist and as a woman.”
