Tyga and YG have been promising a new album together, and given how frequently they are putting out new music together, it is probably just around the corner.
The video for the duo’s “West Coast Weekend” with Blxst collaboration, whose audio first went public in early June and was right away dubbed a summer anthem by fans, was released on Thursday, June 29.
The visuals for the song now feature the three South Central MCs having a good time. Each of their verses is included in the three and a half-minute track, and Blxst also performs the hook.
A new interpretation of “All About U” by 2Pac from 1996 is “West Coast Weekend.” Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, and ‘Pac’s New Jersey group Outlawz were among the finest rappers from California in the original, as they were in the song’s contemporary adaptation.
Tyga and YG have been actively raising interest in their upcoming collaborative album, and in addition to the aforementioned song, they have also offered fans a taste of what’s to come. The pair released their fourth joint song in the middle of June. “Platinum” is a banger with a California theme that was specially crafted by two of the top rappers in the state.
Both MCs are from Compton, and their chemistry on the song is evident. The song also has a video that honors the Golden State and all of its cultural treasures.
It shows Tyga and YG showing up in front of iconic locations like the Golden Gate Bridge and So-Fi Stadium as they travel from the Bay Area to Los Angeles. The final image, in particular, features a mural of the late Mac Dre.
The entire song is one huge flex. YG raps in the chorus, “Yeah, we be goin’ platinum without bein’ thorough/ 4Hunnid, five-hundred what I get a show.”
