The critically acclaimed mixtape Beach House 2, which launched Ty Dolla $ign to fame, is about to celebrate its ten-year anniversary, and the artist has never even listened to it.
On Thursday, June 1, the Los Angeles native visited Apple Music 1 to promote his brand-new song “Motion.” When the conversation shifted to BH2’s upcoming birthday, Ty acknowledged he hasn’t played the album since it was released in July 2013.
Ty stated, “I haven’t listened to Beach House 2.” That’s not a lie. No, but it has been enormous. It’s time to celebrate and give a shout-out to everyone who was with me back then, to those who are still with me now from that team, and to all the new acquaintances I’ve made along the way.
It’s still continuing, too! We are continuing. Back then, it was more about trying to get people to listen to it or just to get acknowledged because you know you make fantastic music and all your friends are telling you, “This is crazy.
“But then to get the people to feel it, that was also the time of just meeting my first publicist, managers, and everything else and just seeing how the game works,” the speaker concluded. And now that I’ve gained experience, I essentially know what to do when I get a record.
On July 1, 2013, Beach House 2, hosted by DJ Drama, began. Stars including Mustard, YG, Wiz Khalifa, Kirko Bangz, Juicy J, Jeezy, B.o.B., Chris Brown, Kid Ink, The Game, and more are featured on all 13 songs. It also includes “Paranoid,” which at the time had a verse from Joe Moses and would later become Ty Dolla $ign’s breakthrough single.
The “Or Nah” singer also disclosed that he is about to release a ton of new songs and that he has other projects lined up.
He stated, “I have an EP ready, a mixtape ready, an album ready, and another type of genre album ready. It’s just a matter of spreading things out and timing everything just perfectly now that I’m prepared. I’ll be releasing some seriously fresh songs, and I’m eager.
With 44,000 album-equivalent sales, Ty’s most recent album, Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 list in October 2020. The project served as his third studio album and includes guest performances from many well-known artists, including Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Post Malone. The song became Ty Dolla $ign’s first Top 10 entry.
Ty Dolla $ign, meanwhile, provided fans with details on the skateboarding accident that put him in the hospital in December and what he did afterward.
Two days before Christmas, the musician uploaded a video on Instagram in which he can be seen pushing himself onto a skateboard ramp, falling to the ground, and banging his head. The fall is shown in the video from two separate perspectives.
