Travis Scott’s Harmony Korine-Directed Movie ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ Is On Lineup For 2023 Venice Film Festival

Travis Scott’s Harmony Korine-Directed Movie ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ Is on Lineup for 2023 Venice Film Festival

At the 80th Venice International Film Festival, Travis Scott plays the lead role in a new movie directed by Harmony Korine.

Aggro Dr1ft, an 80-minute movie with Scott and Jordi Mollà in the lead roles, will be screened as part of the Fiction section of the festival. There was a delay in making further announcements.

The Venice International Film Festival’s 2023 edition begins on August 30 and lasts through September 9. Wes Anderson’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Hit Man by Richard Linklater, Cédric Kahn’s Making Of, and more films have all been announced to make appearances outside of competition. There are additional projects by Woody Allen and Roman Polanski on the schedule. The simultaneous SAG and WGA strikes are anticipated to have a significant impact on festival activities.

Fans will recall that Scott’s Cactus Jack Films and A24 were said to have signed a production agreement back in 2021. At the time, it was stated that the agreement included a project related to Scott’s upcoming Utopia album. However, it’s uncertain at this time whether A24 is associated with Aggro Dr1ft.

A24 and the representatives for Travis Scott and Harmony Korine have both been contacted by Complex for comment. This account might be updated.

The Beach Bum, a comedy starring Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg, was Korine’s most recent release in theaters. Seven years after the release of his critically praised A24-backed (and Venice-premiered) smash Spring Breakers, Korine’s return to the big screen was marked by that movie, which also starred Isla Fisher and Martin Lawrence.

The realization of Scott’s Utopia has been teased about for years. Scott said to the crowd at this weekend’s Rolling Loud Miami performance that he would be “dropping a movie in theaters with my album on Friday.” This movie, Circus Maximus, is thought to be unrelated to Korine’s previously reported Aggro Dr1ft.

Earlier this month, rumors concerning the cancellation of Scott’s previously scheduled Pyramids of Giza concert before the album’s release spread. Later, Live Nation denied these assertions, reassuring Complex in a statement that “Travis Scott’s show in Egypt has not changed.” The representative further stated that “any reports to the contrary are false.”
