Travis Scott Teases ‘utopia’ Release Date With New Billboards

Travis Scott has made significant progress toward delivering on his pledge to release his upcoming album, Utopia.

The Houston native has been teasing a sequel to his critically acclaimed ASTROWORLD for almost three years now. Utopia billboards are currently appearing in Los Angeles after hiding a number of easter eggs over the last months.

There are two signs that are unique to their area that have been going around online. “IS IT IN THE CHATEAU?” asks one billboard located directly outside the Chateau Marmont on the Sunset Strip. Another reads, “IS IT IN THE LIQUOR STORE?” and is posted directly over one in West Hollywood.

Both signs also have the words findutopia.com, which links to Scott’s official website, and a spherical device with two wooden arms that looks like a clock. Instead of the hourly numbers surrounding it, there are lopsided heads reminiscent of claymation.

In a different billboard design, a combination lock is used, making reference to the “Utopia” briefcases that Scott has been using to advertise his upcoming album. Many people think that the fact that the code is locked on 07211 suggests that the release date may be July 21.

Over the previous few years, expectation for Utopia has grown, but 2023 looks to be the closest to when it will actually be released in the eyes of the public.

The “90210” rapper performed a brief performance piece with his security crew in front of a mob of admirers in mid-June outside London’s Abbey Road studios. They then crossed the street while keeping a consistent spacing between one another, imitating the Abbey Road album cover. Scott observed the security man in front of him holding a “Utopia” briefcase.

Many believe that the appearance of this prop in recent pictures of the 32-year-old indicates that the release of the new album is imminent.

Along with John McEnroe, Scott most recently made an appearance in a Nike advertisement to support the launch of the “Mac Attack” footwear. The two were shot together for the campaign, with the trap prince carrying the enigmatical briefcase.

Before that, music producer Mike Dean shared a picture on Instagram of himself posing with a briefcase open, but only for his eyes and not for others to see what was inside. He captioned the photo, asking, “What’s in the case?”

The object has recently been seen being carried by Scott’s security personnel throughout the majority of his public engagements. The word is written in Scott’s handwriting on the front of the briefcase, similar to the “Utopia” message that has been spotted at the bottom of his shoes.

A source close to the rapper told TMZ that Scott intends to release the complete album “sometime this summer,” which sparked speculation that the suitcase includes the master copy of the forthcoming project.

The anticipation for the album is at an all-time high as Scott and his team continue to tease fans regarding its whereabouts.
