Travis Scott’s surprise release Jack Boys 2 is already stirring conversation—and in the latest episode of Club Ambition, hosts Victor (aka SOUND) and Noel deliver their full first reaction and review of the 10-track project.
Released without much buildup, Jack Boys 2 arrived just two days after being announced and several hours earlier than expected. The sequel follows the 2019 Jack Boys compilation and features appearances from Don Toliver, Future, Playboi Carti, NBA YoungBoy, GloRilla, Sheck Wes, and others under the Cactus Jack label.
The hosts note the album is far more experimental than its predecessor. Travis Scott shifts vocal tones frequently and tests out new sounds, drawing on underground influences and rising rap styles. They also point out the presence of “hidden features” from big-name artists contributing mostly ad-libs instead of full verses.
Don Toliver emerges as the standout contributor, with both hosts praising his consistency and overall performance throughout the album. His solo moments, in particular, are highlighted as some of the project’s strongest. The production across the board is considered bold and polished, though the hosts repeatedly criticize the length of several tracks, suggesting they could have benefitted from tighter editing.
While some moments fall flat, the album is largely received as a creative risk that may grow on listeners over time. The duo gives the project ratings of 7.5/10 and 7/10 respectively, acknowledging its flaws but recognizing its potential impact. They close by encouraging Cactus Jack to invest in visual rollouts for standout tracks and not to move on from the project too quickly.
For Club Ambition, Jack Boys 2 may not be perfect—but it’s a step forward in creative experimentation that could pay off in the long run.
