TikTok Returns To US App Stores As Ban Delay Extends To April 5.

TikTok is now available again on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in the US, nearly a month after its nationwide ban took effect on January 19.

According to Bloomberg, Google and Apple restored the app after US Attorney General Pam Bondi assured them they wouldn’t face fines for hosting it. Previously, both companies risked $5,000 per user in penalties.

Google plans to keep TikTok available only until President Trump’s 75-day extension on the ban expires on April 5, Axios reports. The ban was delayed after Trump signed an executive order allowing time for a resolution to protect national security.

TikTok has been fighting the law requiring it to divest from its Chinese owners or face a US ban. While companies like Oracle and Microsoft have been rumored as potential buyers, Trump has hinted at other options, including a government-backed investment fund.
