TikTok has secured a new long-term deal with International Copyright Enterprise (ICE) to continue supporting songwriters and music creators worldwide. Announced on November 18, the agreement grants TikTok access to ICE’s extensive catalog of over 54 million musical works from more than 330,000 rights holders. ICE will facilitate royalty payments for songwriters whose works are used on the platform.
Jon Hall, ICE’s Head of Licensing, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, “This agreement ensures songwriters continue to receive royalties from TikTok across a broad territorial footprint while addressing challenges in the short-form video space.”
The announcement coincides with TikTok’s first ‘TikTok for Songwriters’ event in London on November 19, featuring panels with industry executives and songwriters. Ella Kirby, TikTok’s Head of Music Publishing Licensing & Partnerships, highlighted the platform’s role in music discovery and its commitment to fostering global music promotion.
ICE, which has distributed over €4.5 billion in royalties since 2016, collaborates with major societies like PRS, STIM, and GEMA. The deal follows TikTok’s recent direct agreements with indie artist distributors, reflecting its strategic shift in music licensing.
