TikTok Adds YouTube Music to ‘Add to Music App’ Integration.

TikTok has expanded its ‘Add to Music App’ feature by adding YouTube Music to the list of supported platforms. Users can now hit the ‘Add Song’ button on TikTok videos and have the track saved directly to their ‘TikTok Songs’ playlist in YouTube Music.

This update, announced July 29, follows earlier integrations with Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Since its launch in November 2023, the feature has expanded to include services like Melon, Deezer, SoundCloud, and Anghami.

TikTok is using the feature to strengthen its presence in the music industry. “Add to Music App continues to deliver real results,” said Tracy Gardner, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok, citing “hundreds of millions of track saves” leading to “billions of streams.”

Users are shown streaming service options the first time they press ‘Add Song.’ They can switch their default choice anytime in Settings. A new campaign will guide users in the US and UK on how to use the feature.

The expansion comes as TikTok faces potential restrictions in the US, where a divestment deadline now stands at September 17. ByteDance is reportedly preparing a new app for US users, expected to launch on September 5.
