The Weeknd’s “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” video, which was featured on the soundtrack for the film Avatar: The Way of Water, has just been made available.
The video, which was directed by Quentin Deronzier, takes viewers to a setting reminiscent of Pandora from Avatar. The famous singer barely makes a fleeting cameo. Swedish House Mafia collaborated on the song’s production.
The Weeknd spoke about his connection with the Avatar franchise in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month. He claimed that the 2009 release of the first movie, “Avatar,” helped him get through a difficult period in his life.
“That was probably the darkest time of my life,” he said. “I was homeless, pretty much. I had dropped out of school. I didn’t know if I was going to succeed as a musician. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to live to see tomorrow.
“And I remember I somehow got to see the film in theaters.” I don’t know how I got in. “It was such an escape from my real life that the film is tattooed in my brain.”
Unsurprisingly, he felt like he had come full circle in being able to contribute to the sequel.
