The Weekend And Playboi Carti Are Still Teasely Collaborating Via A Facetime Call

The Weeknd has continued to raise anticipation for a forthcoming project with Playboi Carti.

On Sunday (May 28), Abel shared a screenshot of a FaceTime session with King Vamp on social media, showing the latter grinning widely.

The screenshot was taken from Carti’s Instagram Stories, and the Toronto megastar also added vampire and burning love emojis to it.

Last week at the Cannes Film Festival, where his HBO series The Idol had its world premiere to a standing ovation, The Weeknd previously debuted a brand-new song with Playboi Carti on the red carpet.

The lively single, which is reminiscent of The Neptunes’ late ’90s/early ’00s vibe, has vocals from both artists.

The song, which will be formally published in June as part of The Idol’s soundtrack, reportedly includes Madonna as well.

The Weeknd and Carti will be collaborating for the first time on the song, apparently titled “Popular,” and both fan bases are excited to hear what they come up with.

“FRIDAY HAD BETTER BE COMING. One enthusiastic fan posted on Twitter, “AHHHHHHHHHHHH DROP IT,” while another gushed, “It’s actually happening, oh my god!”

The first two episodes of The Idol, which will broadcast on HBO on June 4, reportedly garnered a standing ovation at Cannes that lasted for more than five minutes.

According to reports, the episodes’ obscene content “shocked” the French audience. These images included “revenge porn photos of bodily fluids on Depp’s face, masturbation with ice cubes, nightclub-owning scam artists, and vile Hollywood sycophants.”

Over the weekend, Sharon Stone, a legendary figure in Hollywood, gave The Idol a significant endorsement.

Stone posted on Instagram, “I just watched the first two episodes of @theidol @lilyrose_depp & Abel (@theweeknd) r so sure footed,” Which comes first, the genius or the heartache? is how Sam Levinson approaches the foundation of the entertainment dilemma.

The Weeknd retweeted the article with simply the word “Wow” in his own commentary.

The Canadian crooner-turned-actor hinted earlier this month that he would give up his longtime stage name and start recording songs under a new moniker.

He told W Magazine, “I’m going through a therapeutic route right now. “I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter at this point and time.”

“I’ll continue to release songs, perhaps as Abel or The Weeknd. I still desire to murder The Weeknd, though. I will, too. Eventually. Undoubtedly, I’m attempting to lose that exterior and become new.

The album I’m now working on is probably my final release as The Weeknd, he continued. I’ve got to take care of this. I’ve stated everything I can as The Weeknd.
