The “bond” between 2Pac and the rest of the crew, notably Treach, was deeper than previously thought, according to KayGee of Naughty By Nature.
The legendary MC said they became close because of some serendipitous touring schedules in an interview with the Murder Master Music Show on Saturday, May 13. He said that the relationship would literally last a lifetime.
He claimed that when they first connected while on tour in 1990, “him and Treach formed the biggest bond.” Treach and Pac were both roadies for Queen Latifah and Digital Underground, respectively. Both were just emerging artists holding out for their chance. They became close! It evolved into a habit. We wrote a song for Juice, and Pac did Juice. Undoubtedly a legend and an amazing man.
People frequently ask me if there is a song I wish I had written or produced, and ‘Dear Mama’ is one of those songs. You’re moved by that song. Everything about that song, including the beat, is great.
Joe Sample’s “In My Wildest Dreams” is sampled in the Tony Pizarro-produced song “Dear Mama.”
More and more people are speaking out about Pac’s influence during his heyday thanks to the popularity of the Dear Mama docuseries.
Director Allen Hughes recently said that if 2Pac had lived to this time period, the late MC and Denzel Washington would be “rivals” today.
Hughes provided a hypothetical summary of the late rapper’s acting career if he were still alive during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.
Hughes stated, “I think Denzel would have some serious competition if he had been here. He had that much talent. I’ve watched them all. Denzel and 2Pac have something in common. I’ve worked with top-tier pimps, dynamic individuals from throughout the globe, and storytellers. Denzel and 2Pac both owned the ‘it’ thing, whether it be in the streets or the movie industry.
“When they entered a room, their emotional and social intelligence levels were off the charts. Social intelligence at the level of genius.
“The difference is that Denzel is very intelligent and can control his emotions, whereas 2Pac [couldn’t],” he continued. However, 2Pac would have been a multiple Academy Award winner and one of our best leading males. And the music would have taken a back seat. He would have undoubtedly continued making music, but he would be well-known in the film industry.
