A video of Skepta diving onto the deck for Circoloco at DC-10 in Ibiza went viral back in August. Even those of us who recall his DJing for Jme and the rest of the Meridian Crew before he became an MC was a little taken aback to see him on the 1s and 2s at a house music rave.
Skepta and the grime movement as a whole haven’t completely changed directions; keen-eyed partygoers in the capital have been catching various MCs’ in-house raves for a while now. However, it appears that Joseph Junior Adenuga is doing more than just experimenting. Additionally, at least one video of Skepta’s Circoloco performance saw him performing a house song he and Jammer had co-written.
It has now been revealed that the closing party for AW 2022 will take place at London’s Beams on December 17 and will feature Skepta and seasoned house performers The Martinez Brothers. Beams has been one of the few success stories this year; their most recent raves with Honey Dijon and the Hacienda/Factory Records veterans are being hailed as two of the year’s most notable occasions in UK clubland.
