The Greatest Song Ever Written By Jermaine Dupri

Jermaine Dupri has written a ton of successful songs, but he has revealed which one he thinks is the best tune he has ever produced.

Dupri, a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, has penned and produced timeless songs for artists such as Usher, Mariah Carey, TLC, XSCAPE, Bow Wow, JAY-Z, Kris Kross, and a plethora of others.

At this year’s Soul Train Awards, Dupri was asked to select the best song he has ever created. After some thought, the Atlanta native chose Usher’s “Nice and Slow.”

“For one, it was his first No. 1 record across-the-board…” he said, explaining his selection. “That’s the one song that I completely wrote by myself as far as the lyrics go.”

Dupri continued by sharing some information about the history of the traditional slow jam. When it reached the point when he and Usher began manipulating it, he remembered, “That’s when I brought in Jagged Edge.” “So I think that was one of the ones that taught me about teamwork, bringing in Jagged Edge to make the song get greater than what it was,” the author says.

He stated: “Me and Usher teaching each other back and forth, I feel like that was the one in my earlier times of writing music that taught me a lot. To see people still singing that song at the top of their lungs, so that’s the one.”

Dupri also talked about learning about his first No. 1 single, “Jump,” by Kris Kross, while on tour. “I was 19 … We may have been attending an awards ceremony or something similar when we heard about it while we were out promoting it.
