The Big Sean “On The Radar” Freestyle

Detroit rapper Big Sean recently stopped by On The Radar Radio, where he freestyled over Aaliyah and Timbaland’s “If Your Girl Only Knew.” He used the moment to pay tribute to Aaliyah, whom he called a “real Detroit legend,” and honored J Dilla by hanging a Dilla cap on his mic stand. His verse included lines some interpreted as shots at other artists, such as, “N**gas looking for engagement like they got their knee bent / I got better things to do than find someone to beef with,” which many saw as a nod to the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

Sean also rapped about the industry’s fakeness, with lines like, “Man, this industry is terrible, I can’t even vouch / I seen grown men get matching tattoos for the clout,” which some believed was directed at Kanye West, who got matching tattoos with Steve Lacy and Lil Uzi Vert. After the freestyle went viral, Sean called out “beef-hungry folks running with the narrative” on X (formerly Twitter), dismissing the critics and stating he’s focused on his music rather than engaging in beef.
