Taylor Swift Challenged By Rihanna For The U.K. Singles Chart Crown

With the release of “Lift Me Up” last week, Rihanna put an end to her years-long music drought When the next U.K. chart is released, the pop icon could receive a crown.

“Lift Me Up,” a song by the Barbadian artist that will be in the upcoming Marvel movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is taking off.

“Life Me Up” is the No. 2-ranked song according to sales and streaming data from the first 48 hours of the chart cycle. Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero,” which debuted at No. 1 last Friday (October 28), is currently in the lead. This is TayTay’s second U.K. chart-topper.

The former leader “Unholy” by Sam Smith and Kim Petras, which is currently at No. 3 on the First Look poll, has made the battle to No. 1 “extremely close,” according to the Official Charts Company.

The top three are separated by less than 300 chart sales going into the second half of the week.

If “Lift Me Up” does succeed in reaching the top, it will be Rihanna’s tenth U.K. single. Atop the charts for the first time since DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller’s “Wild Thoughts” in 2017. Rihanna will undoubtedly receive her 31st U.K. as a result. making the top 10.

Several tracks on the chart blitz are aiming for new peaks in the U.K. Stormzy’s “Hide & Seek” (No. 6) and Oliver Tree and Robin Schulz’s “Miss You” (No. 6) are both in the top 10, while Venbee & Goddard are attempting to make their debut in the top flight with “Messy In Heaven” (No. 10).

“Shirt,” SZA’s own comeback track, might make its top 20 debuts. It will start at position 15 as planned.

The largest gainer on the chart blast, according to the OCC, is Meghan Trainor’s “Made You Look,” which is up 28-18.
