Taraji P Henson is set to take the stage as the host of the BET Awards for the third time, and she couldn’t be more thrilled. In a statement released on Monday, the network announced that Henson will be returning as the host for this year’s event, which will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
“I am thrilled to be returning as the host of the ‘BET Awards’ for the third time,” Henson said in a statement. “I am also looking forward to celebrating my peers and the impact of our culture on entertainment.” Henson previously hosted the awards in 2021 and 2022, and her vibrant personality and charisma have made her a fan favorite.
Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, expressed their excitement about Henson’s return as the host. “Taraji is a phenom, known for her vibrant personality and charisma, and we are excited to welcome her back to host Culture’s Biggest Night, ‘BET Awards,’ the ultimate celebration of Black creativity,” Orlando said in a statement. “We are equally as thrilled to have so many incredibly talented performers join us, standing on culture’s biggest stage to deliver an unforgettable night.”
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. The awards themselves are packed with star power. Drake leads the pack with seven nominations, followed by Nicki Minaj with six. J Cole, Sexyy Red, Victoria Monet, and SZA all received five nominations each. And to top it all off, Usher will be present to accept the Lifetime Achievement BET Award.
In addition to Henson’s hosting duties, the ceremony will feature performances by GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét. Fans can catch all the action live on June 30.
