Taraji P. Henson Parodies Kendrick Lamar's 'Not Like Us' To Open The 2024 BET Awards.

Taraji P. Henson kicked off the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday night with a parody of Kendrick Lamar’s hit song, “Not Like Us.” She wore an outfit similar to Lamar’s from his recent The Pop Out – Ken & Friends concert in Los Angeles and changed the lyrics to “it’s about us.”

Reactions on social media were mixed. One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented, “This is super corny but that song is hot,” while another noted, “As proven this track took off because of the beat lol.” During her opening monologue, Henson also referenced Donald Trump’s recent remarks on “Black jobs” from the first presidential debate for the 2024 election, saying, “[This is] a show packed full of all-stars with Black jobs. Whatever that means. But clearly, we know there’s a difference – thanks for the info, but we already knew it.”

Since its release during Lamar’s viral feud with Drake, “Not Like Us” has become one of his most successful tracks. Following The Pop Out, Lamar filmed a star-studded music video for the song in L.A., though a release date has not yet been announced.
