SZA's "SOS" Stays Atop The Billboard 200 For A Fifth Week In A Row

The R&B superstar SZA is still at the top of the Billboard 200 list after her sophomore album SOS sold 125,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the week ending January 12, according to Billboard.

Since Adele’s 30 dominated the charts for six weeks from December 4, 2021 to January 8, 2022, SZA’s most recent album is the first to spend its first five weeks at the top of the charts. The last female artist to have an R&B album spend five consecutive weeks at No. 1 was Mariah Carey in 1995 with Daydream, which spent six separate weeks at the top of the Billboard 200.

The last female artist’s R&B album to debut at No. 1 for the first five weeks was Janet Jackson’s Janet from 1993.

Midnights, Taylor Swift’s most recent full-length album, maintained its No. 2 position thanks to 81,000 album equivalent units. Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains, which debuted at No. 3 with 57,000 equivalent album units, Drake and 21 Savage’s collaboration Her Loss, which debuted at No. 4 with 51,000 units, and Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, which spent another week in the Top 5 thanks to 45,000 equivalent album units, round out the rest of the Top 5.

I Rest My Case, which debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 this week, gives YoungBoy Never Broke Again his 13th top-10 effort overall.
