During the Foxborough, Massachusetts stop of her Grand National Tour, SZA gave a fan a memorable concert experience by offering free tickets and a personal shoutout during her set. The gesture came amid continued fan engagement efforts during her tour and the launch of her Not Beauty cosmetics line.
On May 12, SZA surprised a fan named Michael Chiaravalloti, who had been waiting outside the venue hours before the show in hopes of meeting her. When she arrived, she warmly greeted him. After he asked to attend the concert, she agreed on one condition—that he bring “maximum energy” to the pit.
Later during her performance, SZA recognized him in the crowd, waved, and called out “Hi Michael” from the stage. The fan documented the experience on Instagram, where SZA also shared a message about why moments like this matter to her.
“Growing up in a smallish town and not being well liked or understood in high school and middle school does something to you,” she wrote. “I care so much about people being seen and heard. I want you to know I care. I’m here. I hear you, I see you, and you matter to me. That’s it. That’s my driving force and I love you. Thank you for being here with me.”
The moment highlights the ongoing fan connection that SZA and Kendrick Lamar have fostered throughout their tour. Lamar recently made a guest appearance at a Not Beauty pop-up, showing public support for SZA and their continued musical collaboration, including their recent chart-topping track, “luther.”
