In this exclusive interview with Museum TV, Noble chats with rising star SVMBV, one of the most talented yet underrated songwriters in Boston. Known for his versatile musical abilities, from producing and engineering to writing and performing, SVMBV is making a name for himself in the city’s competitive music scene.
Having already earned a Boston Music Award nomination for Songwriter of the Year – not just for his own work but also for his collaborations with other artists – SVMBV is a name you’ll definitely want to remember. In fact, one of the artists he worked with was nominated for R&B Artist of the Year at the same awards.
Formally trained in jazz and having played saxophone for years, his background in music theory and his cultural exposure (from speaking multiple languages) have greatly influenced his sound today. His approach is simple yet powerful: “Make music that speaks emotionally, no matter the language.”
SVMBV initially made his mark as an engineer and producer, helping other artists refine their sound. He gained recognition for his ability to coach singers, particularly vocalist Iali, and enhance their artistry. Over time, however, he began to step into the spotlight himself, dropping his own music like “Calm Before the Storm” and his evolving “Nightfall” single series. With the success of tracks like “9PM” and “10PM”, SVMBV shows no sign of slowing down, with the highly anticipated “11PM” on the way.
In the interview, SVMBV shares that he’s transitioning from primarily rapping to incorporating more singing into his work, but his signature sound remains focused on melody first. He’s a firm believer in letting the music breathe and not overcomplicating things. His organic approach has clearly worked – the fans are listening.
Looking ahead, SVMBV highlights his commitment to more consistent releases in 2025, along with plans to expand his work as a producer and collaborator with other artists. His journey, which started in the background, is now moving front and center. He’s set to increase his visibility and make a major impact on the industry.
