SUMMER WALKER FEELS LIKE SHE ‘GOT PLAYED’ WITH GRAMMY SNUBS

Summer Walker has had two extremely popular studio albums, yet The Recording Academy gave none of them any love, and the singer feels betrayed.

Walker discussed her sentiments over Over It and Still Over It being ostensibly neglected with Yung Miami on her Caresha Please podcast while touring to promote her new EP, Clear 2: Soft Life.

Over It and Still Over It both did well in the sales department, she claimed. “I’m not sure. I feel as though I was duped. There were the numbers. There were fans. Every time I go out for a show, it is sold out. I have no idea why they played me.

I do know why, but I won’t elaborate, she continued. But it’s alright. Both the love and the money are present. It’s good, then.

2019 saw the release of the much praised Over It, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Later, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded it platinum certification. Summer Walker released her sophomore album Still Over It in 2021, just over two years later, and it immediately shot to the top of the charts, becoming the singer’s first-ever No. 1 record.

In another segment of the broadcast, Summer discussed her latest song, “To Summer, From Cole,” which features J. Cole and stated that his verse made her cry.

Summer Walker introduced a song called “Audio Hug.” “I had requested him to sing for me, but he really didn’t have time. He wanted to meet, but I couldn’t since I was so horribly pregnant. I don’t know if you have seen the photos, but I weighed around 200 pounds. Large were my ankles. It was absurd. Thus, we did not meet. But he did send me something called a “Audio Hug” in the end.

It’s really sweet. When I heard it, I sobbed. He was just being incredibly kind and said that he understands everything I’ve been through and that I could call him if I ever need anything.

We didn’t meet in the studio since I don’t even enjoy working that way, she added, “But we did meet at Dreamville, and that festival was wonderful. That was awesome crap. But following that, we headed to Dave and Buster’s, where we got to break it up.

“We enjoyed ourselves. He received a basketball asshole. Everyone present had their asses whooped. It was insane.
