Spotify has launched its Audiobooks+ add-on in the US, giving Premium subscribers an additional 15 hours of audiobook listening per month for $11.99. This add-on is now available to individual users, Family and Duo plan managers, and extra members on those plans, though group members must request access from the plan manager. One-time top-ups of 10 hours are also offered for $12.99.
Previously, audiobook access was limited to 15 hours per month and restricted to the plan manager on Family or Duo plans. Spotify’s model differs from traditional audiobook platforms by charging for listening time rather than individual titles, allowing users to sample more books—but possibly without enough time to finish them.
For some, the Audiobooks+ plan may be a more affordable alternative to Audible’s $14.95 monthly subscription, depending on their listening habits. Spotify also raised its prices outside the US this week, including a jump from €10.99 to €11.99 in Europe, following a similar increase in the US last year.
