Spotify is well-versed in crafting personalized playlists, with an extensive range of genre-specific selections and the “daylist” that automatically adapts to a user’s music preferences throughout the day.
There are reports that the streaming platform is exploring the use of AI to generate tailored soundtracks for its users, as evidenced by screenshots shared on social media by product designer Chris Messina, offering a sneak peek into the feature’s potential.
The code for this reported feature includes a text line, which presumably will be displayed within the app, stating, “Get playlists based on your prompts,” indicating that users may soon have the ability to input text to create custom playlists.
Messina hinted at the possibility of generating “AI Playlists” on Spotify using custom prompts, with indications that this feature might become an option within the Blend Genre.
For those unfamiliar, Spotify’s Blend feature merges music preferences of a user and their friend to craft a joint playlist that reflects both tastes.
Spotify, however, has not officially confirmed the existence of this feature yet.
