Spotify Expands Popular Daylist Feature Globally, Offering Personalized Playlists In Multiple Languages.

Spotify’s Daylist is now available worldwide, following its success in English-speaking countries. According to Spotify, 70% of Daylist users return weekly, making it one of the platform’s top features for music discovery. Earlier this year, Daylist was expanded to 65 new markets, and now it’s accessible globally for both Free and Premium users. Newly added languages include Arabic, Catalan, French (Canada and France), German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain and Mexico), and Turkish.

With this global rollout, Spotify users can view unique Daylists in their own languages, with examples like “Modern funk afrofuturism Wednesday afternoon” and “Ethiopian jazz instrumental funk Monday morning.” Spotify’s team worked with local music and culture experts to ensure the Daylist feels relevant to users in each region.

Besides its annual Wrapped feature, Daylist is Spotify’s most-shared personalized experience. The playlist changes throughout the day, but users can save a specific version by tapping the ‘three dot menu,’ selecting ‘Add to Other Playlist,’ and saving it as a new playlist. While Spotify notes that Daylist boosts music discovery, they haven’t disclosed how many users engage with it or the extent of discovery happening behind the scenes, given its dynamic nature.

Daylist was originally launched in September 2023 in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. Unfortunately, soon after its release, the engineer who developed its individualized sound categorization was laid off.
