Soundtrack For "Creed III" To Be Produced By J. Cole's Dreamville

The upcoming Creed III soundtrack will be executive produced by J. Cole’s Dreamville group, further solidifying their status as major hip-hop players.

The information was revealed during a panel at ComplexCon 2022 in Long Beach, California, over the weekend. Michael B. Jordan, who portrays the eponymous role in the Rocky spinoff series, made the announcement.

“I’m probably gonna get in trouble,” Jordan said toward the end of the panel, which also featured fellow Creed III star Jonathan Majors. “Dreamville is executive producing this album.”

There are currently few additional facts available regarding the soundtrack.

Michael B. Jordan returns as Adonis “Donnie” Creed in the third chapter of the boxing trilogy, Creed III, while also making his directorial debut. Majors portrays Damian “Dame” Anderson, a former boxing prodigy and Creed’s childhood friend who returns from prison to fight Creed in the ring.

Creed III also includes Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Phylicia Rashad, and Florian Munteanu as Rocky Balboa, making it the first Rocky movie without Sylvester Stallone in his well-known role as Rocky Balboa. On March 3, 2023, the movie opens in theaters.

While this is going on, Dreamville, which consists of J. Cole, J.I.D. Ari Lennox, Bas, EarthGang, Cozz, Lute, and Omen, has only strengthened their position as one of Hip Hop’s top labels in 2022.

Aside from EarthGang’s D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, hosted by DJ Drama, critically acclaimed albums by J.I.D. (The Forever Story), Ari Lennox (Age/Sex/Location), and EarthGang (Ghetto Gods) have also been released this year.

Cole has continued to put the ‘Ville on his back despite the fact that his own music has been confined to a string of attention-grabbing guest rhymes. He is the first rapper to cover NBA 2K23 and also appears in the game alongside Bas and veteran Dreamville producer Elite.

By establishing Dreamville Films in 2015, Dreamville made its first foray into Hollywood. Through this endeavor, they collaborated with HBO to publish the J. Cole documentaries Road to Homecoming, Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming, and 4 Your Eyez Only.

The North Carolina group is merely the most recent Hip Hop group to direct a significant motion picture soundtrack in recent years. Black Panther: The Album, created by Top Dawg Entertainment in 2018, included original songs from the label’s all-star roster of artists, including Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, The Weeknd, Future, Travis Scott, and others.

The album received eight nominations for the 2019 Grammy Awards and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after selling over 150,000 units in its first week. Jay Rock, Kendrick, Future, and James Blake’s “King’s Dead” collaboration won the Best Rap Performance prize.
