Sora 2 Now Lets You Make Longer AI Videos—25 Seconds If You’re Paying $200 a Month

OpenAI’s Sora 2 now allows users to generate longer videos, expanding its creative flexibility. The update lets all users make clips up to 15 seconds, an increase from the previous 10-second limit. According to OpenAI, the change helps creators “add a few extra beats to fully unfold” their ideas.

For ChatGPT Pro subscribers, the new limit extends to 25 seconds per clip. The Pro plan costs $200 per month and includes premium access to OpenAI’s suite of creative tools. The announcement, made on Oct. 16, featured a 25-second demo video of an AI-generated secret agent chasing a train—accompanied by a humorous nod to 2 Fast 2 Furious on X, captioned “2 Sora 2 updates.”

The extended clip option for Pro users is currently limited to the web version of Sora 2. Standard users can create 15-second clips through both the mobile app and web interface. To adjust length, users can go to Create Video > Duration in the app or toggle it in Settings > Duration on the web.

Longer clips use more daily credits: 15-second videos count as two, while 25-second videos count as four. Pro subscribers also gain access to a storyboard feature, allowing creators to plan videos frame by frame using text prompts—a return of a fan-favorite function from the original Sora.

Sora 2 remains the top free app on the Apple App Store, surpassing ChatGPT. A listing for the Android version appeared on the Google Play Store on Oct. 11, suggesting an imminent release, though OpenAI has not confirmed a launch date
