Sony Music Publishing Signs Producer Mtech In Partnership With Sounwave.

Sony Music Publishing has signed producer MTech to a global publishing deal in partnership with producer Sounwave. The agreement covers MTech’s existing catalog and future works. MTech, whose real name is Matthew Bernard, has collaborated with major artists across genres and recently contributed to six tracks on Kendrick Lamar’s album GNX, which topped the Billboard 200. His work on the project includes the song “Luther” featuring SZA and “Squabble Up.”

Reflecting on his journey, MTech acknowledged the challenges he has faced. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, crediting faith and perseverance for his success. Sounwave praised MTech’s dedication and talent, describing him as a future leading producer in the industry.

Sony Music Publishing’s Manager of Creative A&R, Lauren Munroe, welcomed MTech to the company, highlighting his artistic abilities and the potential for future success. MTech’s production credits extend beyond GNX, including contributions to Kendrick Lamar’s Euphoria, Kali Uchis’ Orquideas, and Blxst’s I’ll Always Come Find You.

Born in Los Angeles, MTech started producing for independent artists at 17 before moving to Atlanta, where he secured his first major television placement on Fox’s Star. He also worked as a pianist and arranger on The Four: Battle for Stardom. Returning to Los Angeles in 2022, he met Sounwave through his manager, Gary Biddy, which led to significant opportunities in the industry.

Jordan Burg, founder of Minerva Group, expressed confidence in Sony Music Publishing’s ability to support MTech’s creative vision. Gary Biddy, MTech’s manager, called the partnership a meaningful moment, linking his long-time belief in MTech’s potential with Sounwave’s mentorship.
