Snoop Dogg has never been shy about expressing his appreciation for his contemporaries, and in his most recent act of camaraderie, he takes a cold-blooded approach to praising the Wu-Tang Clan.
The Long Beach native posted a new video to Instagram on Sunday (June 11) to display his stunning new chain, which was inspired by the Wu-Tang Clan.
Snoop can be seen wearing his new diamond-encrusted necklace, which depicts the Wu’s recognizable W insignia on top of a Samurai mask, in the brief footage. The description of the picture, which is set to a portion of the Staten Island group’s “Gravel Pit,” discloses that California jeweler King Ice made the necklace.
Snoop Dogg has already been spotted sporting specially designed clothing. The West Coast rapper recently hinted at a prospective NHL connection with Death Row Records and was spotted donning a specially made pair of sweatpants with the Ottawa Senators logo sewn on them.
Since it became known that he was engaged in a bidding war with several other prospective owners, including actor Ryan Reynolds, Snoop has been attempting to acquire control of the NHL team.
According to The Athletic, Snoop wanted to buy the Senators in order to become the first Black owner in the NHL. The Weeknd would join the squad and there is reportedly a bid from Ryan Reynolds’ organization that is above $1 billion.
Snoop acknowledged the information and expressed his desire to develop hockey among Black people. “Amazing what @neko_sparks is trying to do in Ottawa & I’m looking forward to being a part of that ownership team,” he commented at the time on Instagram. I want to introduce hockey to our community.
The embroidered sweatpants Snoop posted to Instagram last month looked to indicate he was winning the bidding war, so he might be on his way to realizing this dream.
Snoop Dogg has more going on in the business world than just this. The rapper bought the Death Row name in February of last year from MNRK Music Group (previously eOne Music), which is owned by private equity funds managed by renowned international investment house Blackstone.
The deal’s financial details weren’t made public, but in 2019 the Hasbro toy business paid $4 billion for MNRK Music Group, accidentally becoming the new owners of Death Row.
Hasbro announced in April 2021 that it has paid Blackstone $385 million in cash to acquire MNRK Music Group. It goes without saying that the storied Hip Hop organization wasn’t cheap.
