Simply Jazz Talks Career, Community, and Future Dreams on Everything Goes Podcast

In the latest episode of Everything Goes, host Cindy sat down with Jazz, also known as Simply Jazz,  for an in-depth conversation about her journey as a media personality, her philosophy on building community, and her plans for the future.

Jazz wears many hats. She’s a radio host, experiential marketer, and full-time account manager at CodeWord Agency, all while pursuing her passion for media. Every Wednesday from 7–9 PM EST, she hosts The Pulse Countdown on Spark FM, a platform she has steadily grown since relaunching it after the pandemic.

Born in Boston but raised in Minnesota, Jazz returned to her hometown for college at Northeastern University. It was there she discovered her love for broadcasting, starting on WRBB 104.9 FM and later joining CTC Radio alongside Shimmy and Mad Meeks.

Jazz recalled launching her first solo program, Sundays Are for Soul, before the show ended during COVID. For a while, she questioned whether to continue in radio. Eventually, she overcame her doubts and brought back her voice with The Pulse Countdown.

Today, she leads a small but dedicated team, DJ Alcid and production assistant Jamila, who help bring the weekly program to life. Jazz explained that the show reflects both her love for music and her commitment to spotlighting talent with honesty and care.

Throughout the interview, Jazz shared advice drawn from her own experiences:

  • On music submissions: she makes it a point to listen to everything she receives, offering feedback rooted in honesty and growth.
  • On networking: she values authentic connections, whether on social platforms or face-to-face, emphasizing trust and collaboration.
  • On community: she believes in asking for help, giving back, and cultivating spaces where people feel supported.
  • On self-growth: she admitted to being her own toughest critic, stressing the importance of practicing grace and patience with oneself.

When asked about dream interviews, Jazz named Denzel Washington and Issa Rae as two people she would love to sit down with. She also shared aspirations of moving to Washington, D.C. to pursue political commentary opportunities, while continuing to grow her brand Simply Jazz.

Beyond radio, she is exploring opportunities in voiceover work and red carpet correspondent roles, signaling an expansion of her already diverse media presence.

On a personal note, Jazz revealed that she is single and intentional about her relationships. Rather than seeking out love, she prefers to let it find her naturally.

The episode painted a portrait of a rising voice in Boston’s media scene, one who not only pushes herself forward but also lifts others with her. Jazz’s story underscored the balance between ambition and authenticity, community and self-growth, and the belief that staying true to who you are is the real key to success.
