Shrek 2 Soundtrack Reaches Vinyl For The First Time After 20 Years.

The soundtrack for the movie Shrek 2 is now available on vinyl, marking its first release in this format since the film came out in 2004. The album had previously reached the top 10 on the Billboard albums chart and remains well known for its mix of popular songs and original music.

The soundtrack features several notable artists, including Counting Crows, who wrote the song “Accidentally In Love” specifically for the movie’s opening scene. This track became a Billboard Top 40 hit and received nominations for the Grammys, Golden Globes, and Oscars. Other artists on the album include David Bowie, Dashboard Confessional, and Tom Waits.

The song “Accidentally In Love” was created with the intention of matching the tone of Weezer’s “Island In The Sun,” and the lyrics tell the story of an unexpected couple falling in love, a theme relatable beyond the movie’s characters. The song has since been streamed over half a billion times.

The newly released vinyl pressing comes in a blue and green mix and is available now through Complex for $29.99. Fans of the soundtrack have waited two decades for this vinyl edition.
