ScHoolboy Q Reflects On His Favorite Tracks From “Blank Face Lp” Eight Years After Its Release.

ScHoolboy Q’s fourth studio album came out eight years ago, and he’s now revealed his favorite tracks from it.

“Blank Face LP” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 when it was released in the summer of 2016. The 17-track album featured guest appearances from artists like Kanye West, Jadakiss, Vince Staples, and E-40, garnering widespread acclaim.

On Monday (July 8), NFR Podcast celebrated the album’s anniversary on social media, asking fans for their favorite tracks. ScHoolboy Q responded to their post with his picks: “Groovy Tony/ By any means/ JoHn Muir/ Tookie knows/ Kno ya wrong.”

Earlier this year, ScHoolboy Q released his sixth studio album, which received critical acclaim.

A 4.5/5 review of “Blue Lips” praised the album’s “optimistic and self-assured transparency,” driven by a “controlled dramatism” that keeps ScHoolboy Q’s energy from the 2010s alive while allowing him to cautiously look ahead. The album stands out due to its cohesive structure, rather than feeling like a collection of singles.

The review continues: “An orderly mix of sunshine, overcast, rain, and starry skies, ‘Blue Lips’ shifts between bouncy, sedated, lively, and pensive with a consistency that draws listeners into its rhythm. Even when the production stalls, the lyrical content and vocal performance, with guest appearances from Lance Skiiiwalker, Jozzy, Devin Malik, and Childish Major, keep the album compelling.”

The review concludes by suggesting that the long wait for the album was worth it, as ScHoolboy Q’s growth over the years has resulted in some of his richest music to date.

The 37-year-old rapper is set to embark on an 11-date North American tour later this month to support the album.
