Scar Lip just received another major co-sign in Snoop Dogg, who has agreed to jump on the remix of her breakout hit, “This Is New York.” Taking to Instagram to share a DM exchange with the legendary rapper on Thursday (May 11), the Bronx native revealed she not only had a productive business convo with Snoop through DMs – she also hopped on FaceTime with him to seal the deal.
On April 20, Scar Lip sent a message that said, “Hey Snoop,” along with a heart emoji. “I adore your music and am a big fan. This is New York is a song I have, and I was wondering if you’d be interested in being on the remix.
Even though at first there was no response, the visitor wasn’t dismayed and tried again. She emailed Snoop on May 8 with the subject line “Hey Snoop you think u can get on my remix,” and he replied the next day with “Fuck yes.”
The second slide showed a screenshot of their conversation as it was being recorded, and Scar Lip wrote in the caption that they “FaceTimed and laughed.”
The Snoop endorsement follows Cardi B’s admiration of fellow Bronx native Scar Lip, which put the rising singer in tears as she continues to advance her career.
Cardi shared a Scar Lip video from The Neighborhood Talk’s Instagram page at the beginning of May, showcasing the young rapper donning a black outfit and mask in preparation for the Met Gala festivities.
Cardi B captioned her Story with the words “I love her,” expressing her sincere admiration for Scar Lip.
The rap newcomer was so overcome with emotion that she instantly posted a video on Instagram, expressing her shock and bewilderment at Cardi’s display of affection.
She cried tears of happiness as she stated, “Cardi B just posted me.” “She motivated me. Bro, she’s from the Bronx. I’m a Bronx native. She demonstrated to us young girls that we could succeed and be significant. This is awful, I can’t even believe it. We succeeded.
“My dreams just came true @iamcardib just said she loves me I can’t take this,” she continued in the caption.
Latto, Tony Yayo, Lola Brooke, and others praised Scar Lip’s moment of life affirmation by leaving encouraging words in the comments section of her post.
The endorsements are starting to mount for Scar Lip, who last month received another significant nod when Swizz Beatz chose her to perform on his Hip Hop 50: Vol. 2 EP with Jadakiss and Benny The Butcher on the track “Take ‘Em Out.”
The “This Is New York” rapper also made an appearance on Hot 97 in April to give a hard-hitting freestyle for Funk Flex, which further increased her notoriety in the business. She was wearing New York Knicks clothing.
