Two new projects, including Saweetie’s much anticipated first album, Pretty Bitch Music, are part of her long-awaited return to the music scene.
The native of the Bay Area got down with Rolling Stone and discussed her upcoming albums. Her debut album, The Single Life, will, according to Saweetie, be focused on what has transpired since her difficult breakup with Quavo in 2021.
On The Single Life, Saweetie stated that she was “eager to share what I went through.” “I believe that I was more proud to be single while I was making it. I became aware of my growth and elevated myself as a result. And I became aware of my improvement as a woman.
She added: “It was definitely revolutionary. It was heartbreaking. It was honest. It was a reflection. It’s just me being Saweetie in full transparency.”
Saweetie has been experiencing musical breakthroughs as she’s been working on the projects. One of those, according to her, was the improvement in the honesty of her songwriting.
“I realized that I wasn’t writing from an honest standpoint when I first started because I wasn’t that vulnerable. I was very closed off,” she said. “I was raised to be strong, to be tough, and not show any weakness.”
She continued: “I feel like a lot of my [current] music is just honest. I think that my music has grown because of my vulnerability. I’ve accessed that part in my heart and in my mind.”
This year, she will release The Single Life, which will be her last project before releasing Pretty Bitch Music. The Single Life will be released before Saweetie’s debut album, she said, even though she didn’t provide a release date. The latter is scheduled to be released this year.
She also took some time to express her gratitude to her followers for their patience in waiting for the album, especially since that date was originally set for 2021.
She is coming, Saweetie announced. “I haven’t popped her out; she’s still inside the womb. I appreciate the patience shown by my admirers in waiting. One year has passed. It has been some while. I’ve been continuously recording for a year now.
Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1, Saweetie’s last full-length effort, was released in 2021 and includes collaborations with Bbyafricka, Kendra Jae, Lourdiz, Loui, and the late Drakeo the Ruler.
