Sadiq Ervin has been named one of the 2025 City Hall Plaza Engagement Grantees, as announced this week by the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture. The grant recognizes local creatives developing programming for City Hall Plaza, a public space that has increasingly become a stage for homegrown ideas and cultural events.
In his post, Sadiq Ervin wrote, “Proud to be named one of the 2025 City Hall Plaza Engagement Grantees… Can’t wait to bring it to life on Halloween Day.” While full event details are still to come, the project is scheduled for October 31, and will be one of more than 25 events supported through this year’s grant cycle.
The project was developed in collaboration with Ervin’s longtime creative partners and early supporters, including kei, THRILL, and COLOURS—that have consistently worked at the intersection of visual art, sound, and community engagement. In the announcement, Sadiq Ervin acknowledged the collective effort behind the idea, emphasizing the importance of shared vision and early belief in the concept.

The City Hall Plaza Engagement Grant is part of a larger effort to activate downtown Boston through public-facing art, performances, and community events. This year, over $430,000 in funding is being distributed directly to artists, with an additional $100,000 dedicated to production and technical support.
Sadiq Ervin’s project joins a diverse slate of initiatives slated for the 2025 season, all of which are open to the public and intended to reflect Boston’s evolving creative landscape. As planning continues, he’s invited those interested in supporting or partnering to reach out directly.
Further updates, including the event’s lineup and programming, are expected in the coming weeks.
