Sabrina Lamb Launches Wekeza, a Black Woman-Owned Global Investing App with Multilingual Financial Education.

Sabrina Lamb, founder and CEO of Wekeza, has launched the first Black woman-owned global investing app designed to serve individuals and families across the African Diaspora. Wekeza provides multilingual financial education and access to U.S. stock investments starting at just $1.

Backed by Techstars, Wekeza offers learning tools in English, French, Swahili, Hausa, Wolof, Zulu, and Haitian Creole. Users can invest in fractional or full shares of publicly traded U.S. companies. “We learn to invest better when education speaks our language and honors our culture,” Lamb says, emphasizing Wekeza’s mission to support culturally relevant financial growth.

The app builds on the impact of Lamb’s nonprofit, WorldofMoney.org, which has educated over 50,000 children globally. Now, Wekeza expands this mission to adults, aiming to make investing more accessible. Brooklyn user Fritz Celestin notes, “With Wekeza, we’re finally making confident financial decisions about our future together.”

Wekeza also addresses racial wealth disparities. In 2022, the median net worth of Black households was just 15% that of white households. Through multilingual education, licensed professionals, and investment access, Wekeza provides tools to close this gap.

Lamb, an NAACP Image Award-nominated author and Black Ambition Prize finalist, has testified before Congress and presided over NASDAQ. Wekeza partners with Mastercard, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and the Opportunity Project in Tulsa to further expand access to financial inclusion.

The Wekeza app is available on Google Play and the App Store. Learn more at Wekeza.com. For press inquiries, contact [email protected].
