Rock Her Crown Returns to Celebrate Boston’s Changemakers in Culture, Business & Community.

Now in its second year, Rock Her Crown has established itself as more than just a brunch—it’s a space for recognition, reflection, and community. Launched by Boston Art & Music Soul Fest in 2023, the event honors Black and Latina women whose work is reshaping Boston’s cultural, entrepreneurial, and civic landscapes.

This year’s gathering takes place Friday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grace by Nia, and continues the tradition of spotlighting women whose leadership and contributions move the city forward.

Official Bamsfest shared on Instagram ahead of the event: “I come as one, but I stand as ten thousand.” The quote from Dr. Maya Angelou was posted alongside a slideshow of portraits featuring past and present honorees, offering a glimpse into the energy and intention behind the afternoon.

The 2025 honorees include:

  • Chasity Bowick – Executive Director of Transgender Emergency Fund
  • Cindy Diggs – Founder of Peace Boston
  • Katiria Colón-Thomas – Visual artist and cultural strategist
  • Rep. Liz Miranda – Massachusetts State Senator
  • Superintendent Nora L. Baston – Boston Police Department
  • Sheena Collier – Founder and CEO of The Collier Connection
  • Veronica Robles – Cultural activist and musician

Hosted by artist and advocate Amanda Shea, with music by DJ Brandi Chanel, the event blends formal recognition with a celebratory atmosphere rooted in joy, connection, and shared purpose.

Backed this year by JPMorgan Chase, Rock Her Crown continues to create space for acknowledging the often under-recognized labor and leadership of women of color, not just in Boston, but as part of a broader national conversation.

The brunch takes place at Grace by Nia, a Black-owned supper club and event space known for its mix of soul food, music, and art.
