By organizing a rooftop cypher that includes some of the label’s most promising young talent, Jadakiss and Young Guru has demonstrated the lyrical strength of Roc Nation’s current class.
Rapsody is the one who takes the lead, rapping over Hov’s “Renegade” track from The Blueprint, followed by HDBeenDope, Reuben Vincent, Huey V, and KUR.
Reuben Vincent, the label’s most recent signee, then walked the stage and delivered some bars over “Blueprint (Momma Loves Me).” In 2021, Vincent signed a contract with Roc Nation, and throughout the summer, he performed with Pusha T as part of the latter’s It’s Almost Dry Tour.
Along with hosting, Jadakiss recently finished his 3-Headed Monster Tour with Cam’ron and Ma$e. The tour began on October 19 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and ended on October 30 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
The LOX veteran recently took some time to discuss his Top 5 favorite hip-hop voices. He said to Uproxx in September, “It took me a while, that’s like education in music, just to know the varied [sonic] of people’s voices.” ning about it. I think Guru, rest in peace. [Method Man], you know when the [Wu-Tang Clan] came Meth’s voice was deep and raspy and just he has an ill voice.”
He continued: “Big, with the nasal.” It sounds like he’s having a hard time breathing, but that’s making his cadence extra crazy. Tone-Loc’s voice was ill. Nas, with the nasal. That’s voices! So don’t get mad at me.”
Roc Nation’s School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment at Long Island University now has Young Guru on board as the program’s director for music technology, entrepreneurship, and production.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am!! This chapter is called “Education,” as Young Guru wrote in an Instagram post on June 22. “I am now the director of the Music Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Production program at the Roc Nation School.” I’m also giving away a full tuition scholarship!
